Evan W. Perkins
Athlete: 1984-1987
Evan Perkins helped the UW-La Crosse track and field teams of the mid-80s dominate the conference and the NCAA Division II. Perkins was on the teams from 1984-87 that captured conference titles eah year, placed second in the 1985 and 1986 NCAA III finals, and took the NCAA III crown in 1987.
Individually, he lettered and was named a four-time conference champion in the triple jump. The five-time All-American triple jumper set NCAA III indoor records in 1986 and 1987, finished as runner-up in 1985 and was national champion in 1986 and 1987. Perkins earned a bachelor's degree in physical education in 1988 and a master's in human performance in 1990.
He was a graduate assistant with the UW-L track and field team from 1988-1990 when it took conference championships each year and brought home the 1988 national trophy. Perkins took that success to UW-Oshkosh where he was an assistant to the women's track and field team from 1991-97, capturing the conference title each of those years and seven national championships.
