Erik Halverson was a four-year letter winner for the UWL football team, being a member of three Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) championship teams (1993, 1995, 1996) and one National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III title squad (1995). Selected to the WIAC All-Time Football Team, Halverson was named the 1996 Football Gazette Offensive Lineman of the Year. He earned 1995 and 1996 Football Gazette and American Football Quarterly All-America First Team honors. Halverson was a Associated Press Little All-America Second Team choice in 1996 and Third Team selection in 1995. He also earned 1995 Hewlett Packard All-America Second Team honors.
A 1995 and 1996 All-WIAC First Team selection, Halverson helped lead UWL average 396.2 yards of offense (187.2 rushing; 209.0 passing) in 1996. The Eagles finished with 29 rushing touchdowns in 1996, tied for fourth in single-season school history. Halverson also earned 1994 All-WIAC Second Team honors.
