50th Anniversary of Women's Athletics

Logo
In celebration of the universities storied tradition of women's athletics and creation of Title IX, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Title IX in a variety of ways throughout the 2021-22 academic year.

Title IX, the landmark gender equity law passed as part of the Education Amendments of 1972, banning sex discrimination in federally funded education programs.  This law helped pave the way for women to participate in athletics at educational institutions across America at all levels (high school and college).

"We are proud to celebrate our 50 years of women's athletics at UW-La Crosse," said Director of Athletics Kim Blum.  "From conference, regional and national championships, to academic awards as well as the success off the playing field, our student-athletes have always embodied the traditions of being champions in sport, in school, and in life."
