Basketball and baseball were Donald Peth's sports while he attended college. He earned letters in basketball during seasons from 1951-53 and 1955-56 and 1957-58 squads. He earned all-conference honors in 1956. Peth also earned letters on the baseball squads of 1953, 1956 and 1958. In 1956, he played minor league baseball in the Milwaukee Braves' farm system.
After graduation, Peth became a physical education teacher in the Adams-Friendship School District. He also was head coach for basketball and baseball and was an assistant for football. Peth left the education field in 1969 to become a physical education therapist for the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Tomah, Wis. He retired in 1988.
While at the medical center, Peth continued his interest in sports. He developed and managed both a basketball and baseball program for community youth. In 1968 and 1969, his youth baseball teams captured the Stars of Tomorrow Tournament in La Crosse.
