Hastings, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse golf team won the Gustie Spring Classic hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) on Sunday.
THE BASICS
Results: As a team, UWL cut eight strokes in round two to finish with a two day score of 636 (322, 314) to win the Gustie Spring Classic. Finishing in second place was host Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn) with a 640 (325, 315) followed by UW-Eau Claire (324, 317 - 641), College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) (330, 325 - 655), St. Olaf College (Minn.) (339, 327 - 666) and Bethel University (Minn.) (339, 327 - 666) to round out the top five. A total of 12 teams participated in the tournament including 75 players.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Allison Balduzzi led the Eagles as she shot a 78 in round one and a 77 in round two to finish fifth overall with a 155.
- Finishing right behind Balduzzi was Allie McBryde who finished sixth with a two round score of 157.
- Also finishing in the top 10 for the Eagles was Haley Thoeny who cut four strokes from round her round one score (82) to finish 10th with a 160.
- Kiya Bronston finished 15th with a 164 (83,81) while Lauren Ambrookian was 49th with a 178 (89, 89).
- Playing as an individual for the Eagles was Madeline Trannel who shot a 167 to finish 20th overall (84, 83).

- UWL will return to action on Sunday, April 26th when they host the UW-La Crosse Spring Invite. Competition is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. at the Golf Club at Cedar Creek.
