Hastings, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse golf team a shot a school record to finish third as a team at the DIII Classic hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) on Sunday.

THE BASICS
Results: UWL (615) finished seven strokes back of tournament winner Macalester College (Minn.) (608) and five shots behind UW-Stout (610). Rounding out the top five at the DIII classic was Saint Benedict (Minn.) in fourth place (623) and Gustavus Adolphus in fifth (626).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- On Sunday, the Eagles shot a school record 302 as a team breaking the previous mark of 305 set at the same course on September 16, 2023. With the Eagles 313 on Saturday, UWL also broke the schools 36-hole team score with a 615. The previous record of 625 was scored at the UWL Invitational at The Golf Club at Cedar Creek on September 14-15, 2024.
- Team records were not the only broken records on Sunday as Allison Balduzzi tied the school record on Sunday with an 18-hole score of 72. Balduzzi shot three birdies on Sunday to help her finish tied for fourth overall. With her 76 in the first round on Saturday, Balduzzi broke the 36-hole record with a 148.
- Next for the Eagles was Haley Thoeny who finished tied for sixth with a tournament total of 152. Thoeny shot back-to-back 76s for the Eagles.
- In 17th place for the Eagles was Kiya Bronston who shot a 157 (80, 77) while Allie McBryde was 20th with a 158 (81, 77).
- Lastly for the Eagles, Claire Kelbel shot a 167 (84,83).
- Eagles playing as individuals were Lauren Ambrookian (80, 86 - 166) and Madeline Trannel (85, 90).
