Golf FInishes Third at the WIAC Championships; Wiebke Finishes Third Individually

Jenna Wiebke finishes third at WIAC Championships
Reedsburg, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse golf team finished third at the 2024 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships (presented by Culvers) Sunday afternoon at Reedsburg Country Club.

What is at stake: UW-Whitewater, WIAC Tournament Team Champion, receives an automatic bid to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Championships scheduled for May 13-16, 2025 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • As a team, the Eagles shot a 329 in round one, 316 in round two and a 328 in the final round for a tournament total 976 to finish Third. UW-Whitewater (315, 310, 333 - 958) won their eighth consecutive WIAC Championship. UW-Stout finished second with a team total of 967 (322, 311, 334). Finishing fourth was UW-Oshkosh (320, 336, 333 - 989) while UW-Platteville was fifth (330, 341, 343 - 1014), UW-Eau Claire sixth (348, 334, 338 - 1020), UW-River Falls seventh (344, 349, 346 - 1039) and UW-Stevens Point eighth (356, 355, 354 - 1065). 
  • Senior Jenna Wiebke led the Eagles as she finished third with a tournament total of 239 (84, 76, 79) . Wiebke finished ten strokes behind tournament medalist Julia Imai of UW-Stout who shot a 229. 
  • Finishing tied for seventh was Haley Thoeny who was four strokes back of Wiebke with a 243 (83, 81, 79).
  • Allison Balduzzi (82, 77, 92) and Grace Ellison (81, 87, 83) were tied for 21st with a 251 while Claire Kelbel (83, 85, 87) finished tied for 28th with a tournament total of 255. 
  • Eagles playing as individuals was Allie McBryde who finished tied for 13th with a 246 (80, 87, 79), Erin Rosencrantz (82, 86, 82 - 250), Sophie Denure (78, 87, 87 - 252 T-23rd), Lucy Nielsen (92, 80, 84 - 256 33rd), Bethany Vidruk (87, 94, 87 - 268 T-49th), Fernanda Ossa (85, 96, 91 - 272 53rd) and Nora Gogin (91, 103, 94 - 288 T-66th). 
WIAC ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
  • McBryde was named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team for the second consecutive season.

  • UWL opens the 2024 season with a Spring Break trip to Peoria, Ariz. to play in the George Fox University (Ore.) Invitational March 15-16.
