Sam Blaskowski of
Oshkosh (West) has been named the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Outstanding Track Performer of the Meet, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Wednesday.
Each year, the USTFCCCA honors the Outstanding Performers of the Championships at both the NCAA Division III Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Winners are determined using a formula that adds together team points scored, plus meet records (five additional points), Division III seasonal bests (three additional points) and facility records (one point). Relay points, if applicable, are split equally among the four team members.
Blaskowski totaled 32.75 points at the NCAA III Championships May 25-27 using the above formula. He amassed 20.5 team points thanks to a victory in the 100-meter dash (10.13), a runner-up showing in the 200-meter dash (20.67) and as a member UWL's winning 4×100-meter relay (39.96).
He set a meet record (five points), seasonal best (three points) and two facility records (two points) in the 100-meter dash. Blaskowski added 2.25 more points to the total as part of the record-setting 4×100 relay (39.96.
Along with his track honors, Blaskowski earned NCAA III All-America honors with a seventh-place finish in the long jump (23-10).
