Men’s Track and Field Competes At UW-Platteville and Bethel; Schroeder Breaks School Record

La Crosse, Wis. - Members of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track and field team competed at both the UW-Platteville Invitational and the Bethel University (Minn.) Invite Friday and Saturday.

THE RESULTS

FIELD EVENTS

Pole Vault: With a mark of 16-5 1/4, Gaven Lange finished second in the pole vault while teammates Josh Brunner finished third (16-3 1/4) and Connor Boyle in fourth (16-3 1/4).
High Jump: Mitchell Eldredge tied for second in the high jump with a jump of 6-03 1/4.
Long Jump: With a jump of 22-10, Sebastian Jefferson won the long jump.
Triple Jump: Christian Crumbaker won the triple jump with a mark of 47-5.
Discus: UWL had four of the top finishers in the discus including Anthony Staryszak who finished first with a mark of 163-11. Also finishing in the top five was Joel Benson in third (153-02), Spencer Prats in fourth (147-3) and Ben Youngworth in fifth (146-08).
Shot Put: Jake Gardner was the top Eagle finisher in the shot put as he finished second with a mark of 53-4 1/2. Right behind Gardner was Gardner in third (52-00) and Youngworth fin fourth (51-00 1/4).
Javelin: Nate Lawrence finished third (173-8) in the Javelin at the UW-Platteville Invitational on Saturday.

TRACK EVENTS

100-meter dash: Landon Gallun won the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.83 while Caeden Oppold finished third (10.94).
110-meter hurdles: In the prelims of the 110-meter hurdles, Luke Schroeder broke a 20 year old school record as he finished in a time of 13.84. Schroeder breaks Marcus Walgrave's record of 13.98 which was set in 2006. Schroeder did not start in the finals.
400-meter hurdles: Finn Patenaude ran the second fastest time (52.76) so far this season in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to finish third overall. Logan HIcks ran a time of 55.47 to finish fifth.
400-meter run: Two Eagles finished in the top five of the 400-meter run as Chase Doornink finished third with a time of 47.14 while teammate Devin Williams was fourth (48.40). Doornink's time sits atop the WIAC honor roll.
800-meter run: Tyler Heiman finished fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.72.
5000-meter Run: At the UW-Platteville Invitational on Friday night, Charles Vater (14:02.49) finished fourth while Owen Clark (14:03.12) was fifth in the 5,000-meter run.
