La Crosse, Wis. - Members of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track and field team competed at both the Phil Esten Challenge hosted at UW-La Crosse and the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacifica University (Calif.) on Thursday and Friday.

  • Up next: The Eagles will have members competing at the Drake University (Iowa) Relays (April 23-25), Simpson College (Iowa) Kip Janvrin Open (April 24) and the UW-Eau Claire Dick Johnson Invitational (April 25).

FIELD EVENTS
  • Pole Vault: With an Eagle best 16-7 1/2, Connor Boyle finished second in the pole vault. Right behind Boyle was Gaven Lange in third (16-5 3/4) and Andrew Tumminaro in fourth (16-3 3/4). 
  • High Jump: Mitchell Eldredge finished third in the high jump with a jump of 6-7 1/4. 
  • Long Jump: Sebastian Jefferson was the top finisher for the Eagles in the long jump with a fifth place finish (23-7). 
  • Triple Jump: Three Eagles finished in the top five of the triple jump led by Christian Crumbaker who finished third overall with a mark of 48-6 1/4. Joining Crumbaker in the top was five was Gavin Sargeant in fourth (47-11 1/4) and Carter Pearson in fifth (47-9 1/4).  
  • Discus: Anthony Staryszak finished third in the discus with a throw of 170-7. 
  • Shot Put: Jake Gardner finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 55-9 while Ben Youngworth was sixth (54-9 3/4). 
  • Hammer: Logan Powers was the top NCAA III athlete in the hammer throw as he finished second with a mark of 193-10.
  • Javelin: Nate Lawrence won the javelin with a throw of 179-7 while teammate Luke Schroeder was third (176-8). Joining Lawrence and Schroeder in the top five was Lange in fourth (173-11) and Staryszak in fifth (169-2).
  • Decathlon: With 6,531 points, Nolan Seaberg finished third in the decathlon while teammate Trent Backeberg finished fifth (6416 points).

TRACK EVENTS 
  • 100-meter dash: Landon Gallun was the top Eagle finisher in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.66 to finish second overall. 
  • 110-meter hurdles: Aaron Poelma was the lone Eagle in the 110-meter hurdles as he finished fourth with a time of 14.69. 
  • 400-meter dash: Three Eagles finished in the top four of the 400-meter dash led by Chase Doornink in second place with a time of 46.91. Joining Doornink in the top four was Devin Williams in third (47.26) and Collin Conzemius in fourth (47.57).
  • 400-meter hurdles: With a time of 52.44 in the 400-meter hurdles, Finn Patenaude finished finished second. Logan Hicks was sixth with a time of 53.93. 
  • 800-meter run: Isaac Henkel was the top Eagle performer in the 800-meter run as he finished sixth with a time of 1:53.86. Cael Schoemann competed in the Invite 800-meter run at the Bryan Clay Invitational where he finished 34th out of 118 runners (1:48.84). 
  • 3000-meter steeplechase: At the Phil Esten Challenge, Owen Clark won the 3000 meter steeplechase as he finished with a time of 8:54.74. Also finishing in the top four was Owen Layton in fourth place with a time of 9:18.48. At the Bryan Clay Invitational, Joey Sullivan was the top NCAA III finisher as he finished seventh out of 91 competitors with a time of 8:46.84. Jayden Zywicki was 15th overall with a time of 8:52.92 and Charles Vater finished 29th (8:58.77). 
  • 200-meter dash: Schroeder continued his success in the 200-meter dash has finished with the top time of 20.77 to win the event. 
  • 1500-meter run: Nico Castellanos led three Eagles in the top seven of the 1500-meter run as he finished second with a time of 3:55.38. Aiden Jakubic was next for the Eagles in fourth place finishing in a time of 3:56.59 while Aidan Manning was seventh (3:58.29).  
  • 10000-meter run: With a time of 31:19.56, Isaac Ewing finished fifth in the 10000 meter run. Then at the Bryan Clay Invitational, Aidan Matthai finished 15th with a time of 29:33.70.
