Men’s Track and Field Competes At Drake Relays And UW-Eau Claire; Win Five Event Titles

La Crosse, Wis. - Members of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track and field team competed at both the Drake Relays hosted by Drake University (Iowa).and the UW-Eau Claire Dick Johnson Invitational on Saturday.

THE RESULTS
   
FIELD EVENTS
  • High Jump: With a mark of 6-3 1/4, Mitchell Eldredge finished tied for third in the high jump.
  • Pole Vault: UWL had two vaulters finish in the top six led by Caleb Moore who finished fifth with a mark of 14-11. Also finishing with a mark of 14-11 was Ashton Baumann. 
  • Long Jump: UWL had the top four finishers in the long jump led by Triton Schmidt with a jump of 22-11 1/4. In second place was Sebastian Jefferson (22-9 3/4) while Allen Stupinean was third (22-9 3/4) and Gavin Sargeant fourth (22-3 3/4). 
  • Triple Jump: Gabe Olsen won the triple jump with a mark of 45-10 3/4. Schmidt finished sixth overall with a jump of 42-3 1/4. 
  • Hammer Throw: With a meet record throw of 195-10, Logan Powers won the hammer throw while Anthony Staryszak finished seventh (169-3). 
  • Shot Put: Ben Youngworth was the top Eagle performer in the shot put as he finished fourth with a throw of 54-4 1/2. Finishing right behind Youngworth was Jake Gardner with a throw of 54-3 1/4. 
  • Discus: Staryszak led three Eagles in the top seven of the discuss as he finished second overall with a throw of 168-4. In sixth place was Youngworth (156-3) and in seventh was Joel Benson (154-5). 
   
TRACK EVENTS 
  • 110-meter hurdles: After breaking the NCAA III record at the Drake Relays in the prelims on Friday, Luke Schroeder won the event on Saturday with a time of 13.68. At UW-Eau Claire, Aaron Poelma won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.47. 
  • 400-meter hurdles:Two Eagles finished in the top three with Zachary Nyquist finishing second (53.85) and Logan Hicks finishing third (53.99). 
  • 4x100 Relay: The relay team of Ryder Smith, Evan Maurud, Landon Gallun and Schroeder finished second in the 4x100 relay with a time of 39.88.
  • 4x400-meter relay: The 4x400-meter relay team of Devin Williams, Andrew Hackbarth, Finn Patenaude and Collin Conzemius set a meet and facility record on Saturday at UW-Eau Claire as they won the event with a time of 3:09.61.
