Onalaska, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse golf team placed third Sunday at the Viterbo University (Wis.)/UWL Invitational at The Golf Club at Cedar Creek. The Eagles finished with a two-day total of 711 (353-358) while UW-Platteville won the team title with a score of 700 (346-354). Viterbo (Wis.) was second at 701 (357-344). UW-River Falls placed fourth at 740 (374-366), Saint Mary's University (Minn.) fifth at 794 (409-385) and Carroll University (Wis.) sixth at 800 (396-404).
First round action took place Saturday at The La Crosse Country Club.
UWL's
Maija Tanberg won individual medalist honors with a two-day score of 157 (77-80). She won the title by three shots over Bailey Schmidt of Viterbo (Wis.), who shot 160 (80-80).
UWL had six golfers in the top-20. The Eagles'
Hannah Ottevaere tied for seventh at 180 (91-89),
Maggie Lang tied for ninth at 184 (89-95) and
Emma Moore tied for 13th at 186 (93-93).
Leah Sindberg tied for 17th overall with a two-day total of 188 (92-96) while
Olivia Gallagher finished 20th at 194 (98-96).
Haley Dunn tied for 24th with a two-day score of 197 (100-97) and
Keila Kittelson tied for 28th at 203 (108-95).
A total of 41 golfers completed both rounds.
UWL returns to action Saturday, September 14 at the Saint Mary's (Minn.) Invitational at The Bridges Golf Course in Winona, Minnesota.
