2026 NCAA III Championship Website
La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track and field team is set to compete at the 2026 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Outdoor Championships Thursday-Saturday, May 21-23 UWL's Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. Events start Thursday at 10 a.m., Friday at 10 a.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m.
This marks the fifth time UWL has hosted the NCAA III Outdoor Championships (1986, 1997, 2013, 2018, 2026).
EAGLE HISTORY AT THE NCAA III INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
- UWL has won an NCAA Division III record 17 outdoor titles, including the last 2.
- UWL has finished in the top-four 30 times and in the top 10 in 33 championships.
- UWL has crowned an NCAA Division III record 58 individual outdoor champions.
- UWL is coming off winning the NCAA III Outdoor Championships in 2024 and 2025. At the 2024 NCAA III Outdoor Championships, UWL won with a team score of 84.0 points. UW-Eau Claire finished second with 56 points while Rowan (NJ) was third (44.5 points), St. Johns (Minn.) fourth (39.5) and UW-Oshkosh fifth (39 points).
EAGLES AT THE 2026 NCAA III OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
FIELD EVENTS
- Pole Vault – The Eagles have four individuals competing in the pole vault led by Gaven Lange who qualified with the fourth highest mark of (16-11). Joining Lange will be Connor Boyle (16-7 1/2), Alexander Wagner (16-7 1/4) and Josh Brunner (16-6 3/4).
- Long Jump - Sebastian Jefferson (24-0 1/4) and Triton Schmidt (23-11) both qualified in the long jump. This is the third appearance at the Championships for Schmidt while it is Jefferson's first trip.
- Triple Jump – Carter Pearson and Christian Crumbaker will both be making their first appearance at the Outdoor Championships. Pearson qualified with a jump of 48-10 while Crumbaker's best mark this season has been 48-6 1/4.
- Shot Put – Jake Gardner will be making his first trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the shot put as he qualified with a season best of 57-6 1/2. Joining Gardner in the shot put will be Ben Youngworth who is making his third trip. Youngworth finished fourth overall as a freshman and 20th as a sophomore.
- High Jump – With a jump of 6-9 1/2, Mitchell Eldredge qualified for the outdoor championships.
- Discus - Seeded second in the discus with a mark of 181-0 is Anthony Staryszak who will be making his first trip.
- Hammer Throw - Logan Powers qualified for the hammer throw with a throw of 196-10.
- Decathlon- UWL will have two individuals representing them in the decathlon as Nolan Seaberg (6734 points) and Trent Backeberg (6559) both qualified. Seaberg and Backeberg are both making their first appearance at the Championships.
TRACK EVENTS
- 100-meter dash - UWL will have two runners in the 100-meter dash as Luke Schroeder and Landon Gallun both qualified. Schroeder comes in with the third fastest time qualifying time of 10.25.
- 200-meter dash - Schroeder will look to earn his second NCAA All-America honor in the 200-meter dash after finishing fifth in 2024.
- 400-meter run - Collin Conzemius and Devin Williams both qualified in the 400-meter run. Conzemius finished second at the 2025 championships for his first NCAA All-America honor in the event and has the third fastest time (46.74) so far this season. This is the first appearance in 400-meter run at the Championships for Williams.
- 800-meter run - Cael Schoemann will be looking for his fourth NCAA All-America honor and second national championship (2024) in the 800-meter run. Schoemann comes into the championships with the third fastest qualifying time (1:48.84). Competing with Schoemann in the 800 will be teammate Tyler Heiman who qualified for his first championship with a time of 1:50.02.
- 1500-meter run - With a school record time of 3:44.64, Jayden Zywicki qualified for the 1500-meter run for the first time in his career.
- 5000 meter run - The Eagles have five guys that have qualified for the 5000-meter run led by Aidan Matthai who comes into the championships with the second fastest qualifying time this season (13:54.56). Joining Matthai in the 5000-meter run will be Charles Vater (14;02.49), Owen Clark (14:03.12), Joey Sullivan (14:04.95) and Jayden Zywicki (14:06.22).
- 10000 meter run - Matthai also qualified for the 10000-meter run with a time of 29:33.70. At the 2025 Championships, Matthai finished fifth overall to earn his first NCAA All-America honor in the event.
- 110-meter hurdles - With an NCAA Division III national wind legal record time of 13.32, Schroeder will look to win his first national championship in the 110-meter hurdles. Schroeder also has the fastest all-conditions time of 13.20 which he set at the UWL Final Qualifier last week Thursday.
- 400-meter hurdles - UWL will have two hurdlers in the 400-meter hurdles as Finn Patenaude (51.99) and Zachary Nyquist (52.69) each qualified.
- 3000-meter Steeplechase - Sullivan will look to defend his 2025 national title in the 3000-meter steeplechase as he comes in with the second fastest qualifying time (8:41.53). UWL will have four other individuals competing in the steeplechase including Zywicki (8:50.89), Clark (8:51.25), Vater (8:54.75) and Chase Altergott (9:02.85).
- 4x100 meter relay - The 4x100 relay team of Ryder Smith, Evan Maurud, Gallun and Schroeder set a school record time of 39.36 last week at the UWL Final Qualifier.
- 4x400 meter Relay - With a qualifying time of 3:09.61, the relay team of Devin Williams, Andrew Hackbarth, Finn Patenaude and Collin Conzemius have the third fastest time this season.
