La Crosse, Wis. - With just over a week until the National Collegiate Athletic Conference Dividsion III Outdoor Championships, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team hosted the UWL Final Qualifier on Thursday night. 
 
THE BASICS

• Location: Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex, La Crosse, Wis.
• Up next: Qualifiers for the NCAA III Outdoor National Championships will officially be announced on Saturday morning. Eagles that qualify for nationals will get to compete at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex one more time as UWL is the host for the NCAA III National Championships Thursday-Saturday, May 21-23. The Eagles will be attempting to defend their 2024 and 2025 NCAA III National Outdoor Title. 

 THE RESULTS
    FIELD EVENTS

• Triple Jump - Gavin Sargeant was the Eagles top finisher in the triple jump with a mark of 46-61/4. 
• Javelin - Nate Lawrence was the only Eagle to throw javelin on Thursday as he finished fourth overall with a throw of 175-8. 
• Hammer Throw - Logan Powers finished third in the hammer throw with a toss of 196-10. 
• Long Jump - With a jump of 24-01/4, Sebastian Jefferson finished second in the long jump while teammate Triton Schmidt was fourth (23-11). 
• Pole Vault - Gaven Lange won the pole vault by clearing 16-11 while Josh Brunner finished third (16-5 1/4). 
• Discus - With a throw of 175-5, Anthony Staryszak finished tied for second in the discus. 
• Shot Put - Two of the top five throwers in the shot put were Eagles as Jake Gardner finished third (56-91/4) and Ben Youngworth was fifth (54-8 3/4).

   
TRACK EVENTS 

• 4x100-meter Relay - The relay team of Ryder Smith, Evan Maurud, Landon Gallun and Luke Schroeder ran a school record time of 39.36 to finish second in the 4x100-meter relay. 
• 110-meter Hurdles - Aaron Poelma won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.01. In the prelims, Schroeder broke his own school record with a time of 13.20. His previous record of 13.32 is the NCAA III wind legal national record; however, wind conditions today were not legal to qualify as a national record.  
• 100-meter dash - The difference between first and second in the 100-meter dash came down to 0.003 as Wartburg College's AJ Wright won the event with a time of 10.302 while UWL's Landon Gallun finished second with a time of 10.305. Maurud finished fifth in a time of 10.51. 
• 400-meter Run - Running the 400-meter das for the first time all outdoor season, Cael Schoemann finished fourth with a time of 48.57. 
• 400-meter Hurdles - Zachary Nyquist was the top Eagle performer in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.96. 
• 1500-meter Run - UWL had three of the top five performers in the 1500-meter run including event winner Joey Sullivan in a time of 3:46.22. Teammate Owen Clark finished right behind Sullivan in second with a time of 3:46.77 while Charles Vater was fifth (3:49.78). 
• 3000-meter Steeplechase - Owen Layton finished second in the 3000-meter steeplechase wiht a time of 9:09.83.
