Conzemius, Buchholtz and Stanley Earn Regional Awards from USTFCCCA

New Orleans, La. - University of Wisconsin-La Crosse junior Collin Conzemius of La Crosse (Aquinas),  men's track and field heach coach Josh Buchholtz and men's track & field assistant coach Derek Stanley have been recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced Thursday.  Conzemius was recognized as 2025 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field North Region Track Athlete of the Year while Buchholtz was named the North Region Head Coach of the Year and Stanley was named North Region Assistant Coach of the Year.

Collin Conzemius, Junior, 400-meter, 4x400 Relay
  • Conzemius won his first National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Indoor Championship in the 400-meter run with a time of 46.76. Conzemius is the first Eagle to win an NCAA III National Title in the 400-meter run since Ross Denman did so in 2015. 
  • It is Conzemius' second consecutive NCAA Indoor All-America honor in the 400-meter run. 
  • He was also a member of the Eagles 4x400 relay team that won a National Title on Saturday as well. The Eagles time of 3:10.90 broke the school record set by Derek Toshner, Kris Smith, Charlie Wittleder and Andrew Rock in 2003.  
  • It  is his second straight season earning NCAA All-America  honors as a member of the 4x400 relay team.
  • Earlier this season, Conzemius won his second straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Championship in the 400-meter run.

Josh Buccholtz

Josh Buchholtz, 18th Season
  • Buchholtz has been named USTFCCCA Indoor North Region Coach of the Year on seven occasions (2012-14, 2019, 2024-26).
  • Buchholtz and the Eagles coaching staff led the team to a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Indoor Championship Runner-up finish last weekend. It is the Eagles third national runner-up finish and 15th top five finish at the National Championships under the direction of Buchholtz. 
  • UWL finished with two individual national champions along with the 4x400 relay national title at this years indoor championships. UWL also had 10 individuals along with the distance medley relay and 4x400 relay earn NCAA II All-America honors. 
  • Under the coaching of Buchholtz and his staff, the Eagles won their 23rd Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) indoor title in the last 24 seasons. The UWL coaching staff was honored as the WIAC Coaching Staff of the Year.

Derek Stanley

Derek Stanly, 14th Season
  • Stanley is a member of the Eagles coaching staff which led the team to a NCAA III Indoor Championship Runner-up finish last weekend. 
  • Stanley coached athletes to seven (including members of distance medley relay) NCAA III All-America honors at this year's indoor championships, highlighted by a runner-up finishes in the 800 and the 5000-meter run. 
  • Under the coaching of Stanley and the Eagles coaching staff, the Eagles won their 23rd WIAC indoor title in the last 24 seasons. The UWL coaching staff was honored as the WIAC Coaching Staff of the Year. 
  • Stanley is also in his 14th season as the Eagles Head Men's and Women's Cross Country teams. This past season, Stanley helped lead the Eagles to their second consecutive NCAA III Men's Cross Country National Championship.
