La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track and field team will go for its 23rd title in 24 years at the 2026 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Championship (Presented by Culver's) hosted at UW-Platteville's Williams Fieldhouse. The 57th edition of the league meet is scheduled to start Friday, February 27 and runs through Saturday, February 28 in unison with the 49th gathering of the women's teams.
WIAC INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
* Competition at this year's meet will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 27, and 10 a.m. on Feb. 28. Medals will be awarded to the top-eight finishers in each of the individual events and the individuals comprising the top-six relay teams.
* The Eagles have won a conference-leading 48 titles in 56 indoor championships.
* UWL won the 2025 WIAC Indoor Championships with 217.5 points while UW-Oshkosh was second with 133.5 points and UW-Whitewater third with 89 points. UW-Eau Claire finished fourth with 75.5 points, UW-Stevens Point fifth with 49 points, UW-Stout sixth with 40.5 points, UW-Platteville seventh with 35 points, and UW-River Falls eighth with 23 points.
* On this week's NCAA DIII Men's Indoor Track & Field National Rating Index distributed by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), three of the top five teams are from the WIAC with UW-La Crosse ranked first, UW-Oshkosh second and UW-Eau Claire fifth.
THE EAGLES AT THE WIAC INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
ON THE TRACK
* The Eagles return two conference champions from the 2025 indoor championships including
Collin Conzemius who won the 400-meter dash and
Cael Schoemann who won the 800-meter run.

Landon Gallun and
Luke Schroeder both have the fifth fastest time (6.79) in the 60-meters so far this season.
* Schroeder also has the second fastest time this season in the 200-meters (21.61).
* With a time of 7.82 in the 60-meter hurdles, Schroeder has the top time so far this season in the NCAA III.
* Conzemius sits a top the NCAA III honor roll with the fastest time this season in the 400-meters (46.68).
Chase Doornink (48.39) and
Andrew Hackbarth (48.91) are also in the top five in the WIAC this season.
* Schoemann broke his own school record in the 800-meter run and ranks atop the NCAA III honor roll in the event.
* UWL has nine of the 10 fastest times in the mile so far this sason in the WIAC including
Jayden Zywicki with the top time of 4:07.81.

Joey Sullivan (8:08.69) and
Aidan Matthai (8:11.10) bring to the Championships the two fastest times this season in the 3000-meter run.
* Last weekend at the Iowa Open, Matthai ran the third fastest time in the NCAA III in the 5000 meters with a time of 13:58.61.
* Both the 4x400 and Distance Medley Relay (DMR) teams also have the fastest times this season including 3:10.07 in the 4x400 and 9:40.22 in the DMR.
IN THE FIELD

Mitchell Eldredge comes into the WIAC Championships with the top jump this season at 6-9 3/4.

Connor Boyle (16-8 3/4),
Andrew Tumminaro (16-5 1/4),
Josh Brunner (16-4 3/4) and
Gaven Lange (16-2 3/4) are seeded two through five in the pole vault.

Carter Pearson (49-1 1/2) and
Gavin Sargeant (48-0 1/2) have the top two marks in the triple jump this season.
*
Ben Youngworth, seeded fourth (55-3 3/4) and
Jake Gardner, seeded fifth (54-11 1/4), will both look to score points for the Eagles in the shot put.

Logan Powers (63-9) and
Anthony Staryszak (61-11) come into the WIAC Championships with two of the top four throws this season in the weight throw.
JOSH BUCHHOLTZ
* Coach Buchholtz is in his 18th season as UWL's head coach.
* The Eagles have won the WIAC Indoor Championships 14 times under Buchholtz.
* Buchholtz led the Eagles to the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships, the seventh indoor national title under Buchholtz (2009, 2013-14, 2017, 2023-25).
