Men's Track and Field Competes At UW-Whitewater Midwest Elite; Merklein and Maurud Win Individual Titles

Nash Merklein won the mile on Saturday at the UW-Whitewater Midwest Elite

La Crosse, Wis. - Members of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track and field team competed on day two of the UW-Whitewater Midwest Elite on Saturday.

FIELD EVENTS

Long Jump - UWL was led by Sebastian Jefferson in the long jump as he finished fourth with a jump of 22-01 1/4.
Pole Vault - Gaven Lange finished fourth in pole vault with a mark of 16-01

TRACK EVENTS

60-meter Dash - Jack Cieciwa ran a personal best 6.80 to finish second in the 60-meter dash.
60-meter Hurdles - With a time of 8.60, Trent Backeberg finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles.
200-meter dash - Evan Maurud won the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.10.
800-meter run - Parker Heintz was the Eagles top finisher in the 800-meter run as he finished fourth with a time of 1:55.73
Mile - UWL had the top two finishers in the mile run as Nash Merklein won the event with a time of 4:17.89 while Aiden Jakubic was second (4:18.88)
