Men's Track and Field Set to Compete at NCAA III Nationals, Looks To Win Third Straight Indoor Championship

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track and field team is set to compete at the 2025 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Indoor Championships Friday-Saturday, March 14-15 at the Golisano Training Center in Rochester, NY. Nazareth University (NY) is serving as host of the championships. Events start each day at 9 a.m.

EAGLE HISTORY AT THE NCAA III INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

UWL has won an NCAA Division III record 20 indoor titles, including 13 of the last 21.
UWL has finished in the top-five in 36 of a possible 37 indoor national championships.
The Eagles have earned 404 indoor All-American honors, the most in NCAA III history.
UWL has crowned an NCAA Division III record 44 individual indoor champions.
UWL is coming off winning the NCAA III Indoor Championships in 2023 and 2024. At the 2024 NCAA III Indoor Championships, UWL won with a team score of 75.0 points while UW-Eau Claire placed second with 52. UW-Oshkosh placed third with 51 points.

FIELD EVENTS

Pole Vault – Andrew Tumminaro will be making his first appearance at the NCAA III Championships, where his qualifying vault of 16-5 1/4 ranks tied for fifth in NCAA III. Connor Boyle will also be making his first appearance with a qualifying vault of 16-2.
Long Jump – Sebastian Jefferson will be making his first appearance at the NCAA III Championships, where his qualifying jump of 23-10 3/4 ranks eighth in the nation. Carter Pearson will also be making his first appearance with a qualifying jump of 23-8 1/4.
Triple Jump – Three Eagles will appear at the NCAA III Championships in the triple jump, highlighted by Gabe Olsen, who is making his first appearance, where his qualifying jump of 48-4 ranks ninth in the nation. William Cady will be making his second appearance with a qualifying jump of 47-9 3/4 and Pearson will be making his first appearance with a qualifying jump of 47-7. Cady finished 12th at the 2024 Indoor Championships with a jump of 46-4 1/4.
Shot Put – After earning All-American honors at the 2024 Indoor championships, Ben Youngworth qualified for his second NCAA Championship with a throw of 54-10 ¾. At last year's championships, Youngworth finished eighth overall with a mark of 55-3 1/2.
High Jump – Nathan Andringa qualified for his third NCAA Indoor Championship with a qualifying jump of 6-8 3/4. Andringa finished 10th (6-8) at the 2023 Indoor Championships while earning All-America honors in 2024 as he finished seventh (6-8 1/4).

TRACK EVENTS

60-meter dash – Sam Blaskowski will attempt to win his third straight NCAA Indoor Championship in the 60-meter dash this weekend after winning titles in 2023 and 2024. His qualifying time of 6.60 this season is an NCAA Division III record. Blaskkowski ran a time of 6.71 to win the 2023 title while he ran a time of 6.68 in 2024. It is Blaskowski fourth appearance at the NCAA III Indoor Championships as he was also an All-American in 2022 when he finished sixth overall.
60-meter hurdles – Aaron Poelma will be making his first appearance at the Championships, with a qualifying time of 8.07.
200-meter run– Blaskowski will attempt to defend his 2024 NCAA Indoor Championship in the 200-meter run as his qualifying time of 21.34 ranks first. He won the 2024 title with a time of 20.93 while he finished second at the 2023 championships with a time of 21.16. At the 2022 Indoor Championships, Blaskowski finished seventh overall with a time of 22.45.
400-meter run – Collin Conzemius qualified for the 400-meter run with a time of 47.89 that ranks third in the nation. This is Conzemius' second appearance at the championships as he was a member of the 4x400 relay team in 2024. Chase Doornink will be making his third appearance, first appearance in the 400-meter run, with a qualifying time of 48.37 that ranks ninth in the nation.
800-meter run – Cael Schoemann will be making his third appearance at the championships and will be attempting to defend his 2024 national title as he qualified with a time of 1:52.15 that ranks sixth in the nation. Shoemann was a member of the distance medley relay team that finished 10th in 2023.
Mile – Jayden Zywicki qualifies for his second Indoor Championship with a qualifying time of 4:09.39 that ranks eighth in the nation. Zywicki finished fifth to earn All-American honors at the 2024 Indoor Championships with a time of 4:07.41.
3000 meter run – Four Eagles qualified for the championships, highlighted by Grant Matthai who qualified for his second championship with a time of 8:06.92 which ranks third in the nation. Grant Matthai finished eighth at the 2024 Championships to earn his first All-America honor. Aidan Matthai's time of 8:11.32 ranks eighth, Adam Loenser (8:12.72) ranks ninth, and Charles Vater qualified with a time of 8:15.25. Loenser (12th) and Aidan Matthai (16th) both competed in the 3000-meter run at the 2024 Championships.
5000 meter run – Aidan Matthai and Grant Matthai both qualified for the 5000 meter run with top five times in NCAA III. Aidan with a time of 14:00.30 which ranks second, and Grant with a time of 14:01.86 which ranks fifth. Both Grant and Aidan earned All-American honors in the 5,000 meter run at the 2024 championships as they finished fifth and eighth, respectively.
4x400 meter relay - The 4x400 relay team of Jacob Hohmann, Andrew Hackbarth, Devin Williams, and Doornink qualify with a nation leading time of 3:13.24.
Distance Medley Relay - The distance medley relay team of Joey Sullivan, Tyler Backes, Dirk Lueck, and Loenser qualify with a nation leading time of 9:47.29.
