Brown Deer, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team is in third-place after the second day of action at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships (presented by Culver's) Thursday night at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center.
The Eagles have 147.0 team points while UW-Eau Claire leads with 248.0. UW-Stevens Point is second (147.0) with UW-Whitewater fourth (132.0) and UW-Oshkosh fifth (81.0).
UWL's
Blake Nelson captured the WIAC title in the 50 freestyle (20.39) on Thursday. He is the first swimmer for UWL to win the 50 freestyle since
Spencer Loch in 2010.

Tyler Hartmann placed fourth (21.13),
Will Quackenbush 11th (21.52),
Alex Starr tied for 12th (21.56),
Jesse Hammes 15th (21.68) and
Jackson Plautz 16th (21.82) in the 50 freestyle on Thursday.
Connor Cleveland finished seventh (1:56.50) and
Caleb Jondle 12th (1:58.60) in the 200 I.M. while
Sebiyam Werdin-Kennicott was eighth (4:49.45) in the 500 freestyle.
UWL's
Jacob Ketterling, Hartmann,
Jonah Elfers and Quackenbush placed third (3:21.97) in the 400 medley relay.
