Berlin, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse golf team captured the UW-Oshkosh Match Play Championship Sunday at Mascoutin Golf Club. The Eagles earned a 4-1 victory over the host Titans. Play was limited to nine holes due to the weather.
UWL's
Erin Rosencrantz defeated UW-Oshkosh's Alyssa Dreher (1UP) while
Sophie Denure beat Taryn Endres (2 & 1) in the team competition. The Eagles'
Allison Balduzzi defeated Lauryn Davis (1UP) and
Grace Ellison defeated Josie Hofer (2 & 1). The Titans' Ava Downie beat
Andrea Schleeper (3 & 2).
In individual matches, UWL's
Jenna Wiebke defeated Sydney Bornhorst (4 & 3) while
Lauren Ambrookian beat Hailey Matenaer (1UP).
Claire Kelbel and Kylie Herrin finished tied after nine holes.
UWL earned a 4-1 win over UW-Stevens Point in Saturday's competition. Rosencrantz (5 & 4), Denure (4 & 3), Balduzzi (2UP) and Ellison (6 & 4) earned victories.
Kelbel (2 & 1), Wiebke (6 & 4) and Ambrookian (4 & 2) picked up victories in the individual matches.
UWL returns to action Saturday, April 22 at the Viterbo University (Wis.) Spring Invitational at Trempealeau (Wis.) Mountain Golf Club at 9 a.m.
