Platteville, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team won the 13-team UW-Platteville Invitational Friday. The Eagles finished with 222.0 team points with Loras College (Iowa) second with 166.0 and the University of Dubuque (Iowa) third with 58.0.
The Eagles won eight titles on Friday, including seven individual. UWL's
Skye Digman won three events, taking the shot put (50-2), hammer throw (182-5) and discus throw (154-5). She set the school record in the shot put, breaking Cindy Lensmire mark of 50-1 1/2 set in 1984.
Other field event winners included
Gabby Johnson in the javelin throw (128-3),
Miah Keller in the triple jump (39-1) and
Ainsley Hansen in the high jump (5-7).
On the track,
Brooke McDowell took the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.92) while
Bella Seitz,
Lauren Jarrett,
Emma Lawrence and
Emily Dawidowich won the 4x100-meter relay (46.30).
Other top-six finishes in Friday's field events included
Leah Surprenant second (167-10) and
Holly Wardynski sixth (160-5) in the hammer throw.
Izzy Carroll was third in the discus throw (137-7) and sixth in the shot put (43-3).
Skylar White was sixth (117-9) in the javelin throw.
Ashley O'Connell placed second (11-6 1/4),
Araceli De Leo Lopez third (11-6 1/4) and
Abby Meidl tied for fourth (11-0 1/4) in the pole vault.
Audrey Braun finished third (18-1 3/4) and
Ava Foley sixth (17-9 1/2) in the long jump while
Samantha Barrett was fourth (37-5 1/2) and
Mackenzey Kronberg sixth (36-9) in the triple jump.
Alia Vanderhoef tied for fifth (5-1 3/4) in the high jump.
On the track,
Melanie Kunze was second (1:02.10) and
Gretchen McNeal fourth (1:06.30) in the 400-meter hurdles while
Greta Koehler placed second (2:15.77) and
Morgan Jennings sixth (2:18.19) in the 800-meter run. Jarrett finished second (24.36) and Dawidowich third (24.65) in the 200-meter dash.
In the 400-meter dash,
Lilly Halvorson was third (58.42),
Amber Johnson fourth (58.83) and
Izi Knoernschild fifth (59.37). Lawrence was third (11.97) in the 100-meter dash.
Macee Redman placed fourth (16.05) and
Noelle Hackenmueller sixth (16.62) in the 100-meter hurdles.
Maddie Hannan finished fourth (16:47.67) in the 5,000-meter run.
UWL returns to action Friday, April 21 hosting the Phil Esten Challenge at 10:30 a.m.
