Menomonie, Wis. -
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team captured its third straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship (presented by Culver's) Saturday in UW-Stout's Johnson Fieldhouse. The Eagles totaled 324.0 team points to earn their ninth conference title in last 10 seasons. UWL has now won a league record 29 titles (1978-81, 1983, 1985-87, 1994, 1997, 2000-05, 2007-10, 2013-18, 2020, 2022-23) in school history. The 2021 WIAC Championships were canceled due to the COVID-19 public health threat.

UW-Eau Claire placed second on Saturday with 116.0 team points with UW-Oshkosh third with 65.0. UW-Whitewater was fourth (54.0) followed by UW-Stout (37.0), UW-Stevens Point (31.0), UW-River Falls (23.0) and UW-Platteville (11.0).

UWL's 324.0 points are the most in conference history at the indoor championships, breaking the previous record of 261.0 points by UW-Oshkosh in 1996. The Eagles scored at least 10 points in 16 of this year's 17 events, including over 20 points in seven events (200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, 5,000-meter run, high jump, long jump, triple jump and pentathlon).

UWL won seven titles on Saturday, including six individual. On the track, Emma Lawrence took the 60-meter hurdles (8.52) and 200-meter dash (24.94). She was also second (7.63) in the 60-meter dash. Lawrence won her second title in the 60-meter hurdles after capturing the crown in 2020. She became the first sprinter to win the 200-meter dash for UWL since 2020 when Savannah Rygiewicz won her second straight title. Lawrence is the first athlete in WIAC history to win the 60-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash at the same championships.

Maddie Hannan won the 800-meter run (2:12.67) on Saturday, becoming the first UWL runner to win the championship since Hilde de Boer in 1997.

UWL's Skylar White won the pentathlon on Saturday with 3,276 points. It marks UWL's second straight league title in the pentathlon after Hannah Zenkovich won the event last season.

Skye Digman captured her third straight weight throw title on Saturday (62-8). She is one of two throwers in school history to win three consecutive crowns, joining Robyn Jarocki of UW-Oshkosh (2004-06).

The Eagles' Hailie Kent took the triple jump crown (38-0 3/4) title on Saturday, the second straight league championship for UWL after Miah Keller won in 2022.
