La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team captured the UWL Eagle Open Friday night in The Fieldhouse. The Eagles finished with 171.0 team points while Loras College (Iowa) was second with 162.0 and Wartburg College (Iowa) third with 94.0.
Ripon College (Wis.) placed fourth (44.0) followed by Winona State University (Minn.) fifth (33.0), UW-Whitewater sixth (32.0) and Bethel University (Minn.) seventh (26.0).
Skye Digman captured a pair of titles on Friday, winning the shot put (48-2) and weight throw (63-9 1/2). She broke her own school record of 60-7 3/4 in the weight throw set last season. The Eagles'
Olivia Owens won the high jump (5-6) on Friday.
On the track, UWL swept both relay events.
Emma Malooly,
Morgan Jennings,
Greta Koehler and
Maddie Hannan took the distance medley relay (11:48.22) while
Lilly Halvorson, Jennings,
Emily Dawidowich and
Emma Lawrence won the 4x400-meter relay (3:51.40).
Other top-six finishers in the field events included
Izzy Carroll second (43-3) and
Sarah Hulstedt sixth (41-5) in the shot put while
Mady Friese was third (5-0 1/4) in the high jump.
UWL recorded five of the top-six finishers in the pole vault on Friday.
Ashley O'Connell was second (11-6 1/4) while
Nina Morrison placed third (11-6 1/4) and
Araceli De Leo Lopez fourth (11-6 1/4).
Emily Shafron and
Abby Meidl tied for fifth (11-0 1/4).
Miah Keller was second (38-1 1/2) and
Carly Schreurs sixth (35-5 3/4) in the triple jump while
Madison Page finished fifth (17-3 1/2) and
Hailie Kent sixth (17-2) in the long jump (17-2).
In Friday's track events,
Brooke McDowell was second (8.73) in the 60-meter hurdles and sixth (26.38) in the 200-meter dash.
Gwen Hinz finished second (2:21.41) and
Bryn Sato third (2:22.60) in the 800-meter run.
Ellie Jillson was fourth (59.29) and
Grace Lundie sixth (1:00.09) in the 400-meter dash while
Maya Evans was sixth (8.06) in the 60-meter dash. The Eagles'
Karlie Meyer finished fifth (10:47.46) in the 3,000-meter run.
UWL returns to action Friday, February 24 at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships at UW-Stout. Action starts at 11:30 a.m.
