Northfield, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team competed at the Cows, Colleges, & Contentment Classic Saturday at Carleton College (Minn.). No team scores were recorded.
UWL won a pair of individual titles and one relay on Saturday.
Will Quackenbush took the 100 freestyle (48.87) and
Caleb Jondle the 100 butterfly (55.06) while
Tyler Hartmann,
Blake Nelson,
Jesse Hammes and
Jonah Elfers the 200 freestyle relay (1:27.55).
UWL's 200 medley relay of Elfers, Hartmann,
Alex Starr and Hammes were second (1:39.29).
Tyler Herder was sixth (347.45 points) in the three-meter diving and seventh (352.45) in the one-meter.
Quackenbush was also second (1:49.17) in the 200 freestyle with Jondle fourth (1:51.07), Hartmann sixth (1:52.67) and
Reid Graham seventh (1:52.69). Starr finished second (22.67) and
Ben Collins fourth (22.89) in the 50 freestyle.
Along with Quackenbush winning the 100 freestyle,
Blake Nelson was third (49.31), Hartmann fourth (49.63),
Connor Cleveland fifth (49.72) and Elfers eighth (50.52).
Ben Collins finished second (5:09.78),
Davin Evans fourth (5:13.05) and
Tristin Nelsen sixth (5:32.95) in the 500 freestyle.
In the butterfly events,
Drew Shipley was second (2:09.47),
Tristin Nelsen seventh (2:18.74) and Evans eighth (2:23.23) in the 200 butterfly while
Sean Gillett finished fifth (55.52) and Hammes sixth (55.81) in the 100 butterfly.
Cleveland was third (57.76) and
Zach Vinson sixth (59.25) in the 100 backstroke while Gillett was third (2:07.11) and Shipley fifth (2:13.67) in the 200 backstroke.
Hammes finished second (1:03.54),
Blake Nelson sixth (1:07.87) and Elfers seventh (1:07.94) in the 100 breaststroke.
Sebiyam Werdin-Kennicott placed fourth (4:41.36), Jake Jensen sixth (4:58.95) and
Nathaniel Nelson seventh (5:04.97) in the 400 I.M.
UWL returns to action Saturday, November 4 hosting UW-Eau Claire. Diving starts at 9:30 a.m. and swimming at 1:30 p.m. in the Richard L. Pein Natatorium.
