La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team captured the Pat Healy Classic Saturday afternoon in the UWL Field House. The Eagles finished with 244.67 team points. Winona State University (Minn.) placed second with 109.00 with Viterbo University (Wis.) third with 42.00. UW-Stout finished fourth (27.33) and Saint Mary's University (Minn.) fifth (8.00).
UWL won seven individual events on Saturday, including five in the field events and two on the track.
Skye Digman swept the shot put (46-4 1/4) and weight throw (57-3) while
Ashley O'Connell won the pole vault (11-8 1/2). The Eagles'
Miah Keller won the triple jump (39-2 1/2) and
Ainsley Hansen the high jump (5-6 1/2).
The Eagles'
Alayna Digman was second (46-4 3/4) in the weight throw and fourth (39-6 3/4) in the shot put while
Izzy Carroll placed third (40-2 3/4) in the shot put and fifth (45-10) in the weight throw. Other top-six finishers in the shot put included
Ella Puls second (40-11 1/2) and
Sarah Hulstedt fifth (39-1 1/4) while in the weight throw,
Leah Surprenant finished third (46-4 1/4),
Holly Wardynski fourth (46-1 1/4) and
MonRaye Ermis sixth (44-6 1/4).
Along with O'Connell winning the pole vault title,
Araceli De Leo Lopez was second (11-8 1/2),
Abby Meidl fourth (11-2 1/2) and
Nina Morrison fifth (11-2 1/2).
Hailie Kent finished second (38-7 3/4) and
Kylah Frederixon third (38-0 3/4) in the triple jump.
Macie Todd finished second (5-2 1/2),
Olivia Owens third (5-2 1/2) while
Alia Vanderhoef and
Olivia Gartner tied for sixth (5-0 1/2) in the high jump.
Amber Grosse was second (17-6),
Ava Foley third (17-5 1/4) and
Noelle Hackenmueller fourth (17-4) in the long jump on Saturday.
On the track, UWL's
Maddy Vantassel won the mile run (5:05.57) and
Gwen Hinz the 3,000-meter run (10:39.91).
Julia Anderson was third (5:09.96) in the mile run while
Lucile Duchac placed second (10:48.73),
Bryn Sato third (10:51.07),
Lauren Beauchaine fourth (10:54.44) and
Jessica Wilson fifth (11:05.68) in the 3,000-meter run.
UWL had four of the top-six finishers in the 200-meter dash as
Melanie Kunze placed second (26.66),
Bella Seitz third (26.74),
Jenna Coty fifth (27.291) and
Maya Evans sixth (27.298). Seitz was also third (8.101) and Coty fourth (8.103) in the 60-meter dash.
Hannah Holm finished fourth (9.37) and Grosse sixth (9.53) in the 60-meter hurdles.
Dyllan Powers finished fourth (1:01.37),
Kaydee Johnson fifth (1:01.42) and
Ellie Jillson sixth (1:01.80) in the 400-meter dash.
The 4x400-meter relay of
Elise Moon, Hackenmueller,
Skylar White and Holm placed second (4:07.60).
Healy, a member of the UWL Wall of Fame, Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Hall of Fame and the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Hall of Fame, served as the Eagles' women's track & field coach for 25 seasons from 1992-2006. He led UWL to 22 team trophies (top-four finishes) at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Indoor and Outdoor Championships in his career, including sweeping the 2015 national titles. The Eagles finished in the top-10 in 41 of a possible 50 national championship under Healy. He was selected the USTFCCCA National Indoor Coach of the Year four times (1997, 2000, 2001, 2015) and Outdoor Coach of the Year twice (1998, 2015).
UWL won 16 WIAC indoor titles under Healy and 18 outdoor crowns. He was named the WIAC Indoor Coach of the Year 13 times and Outdoor Coach of the Year on 11 occasions.
Healy served as UWL's head women's cross country coach from 1991-2001, guiding the Eagles to 13 top-10 finishes at the NCAA III Championships. UWL captured four WIAC cross country titles under Healy as he was named the WIAC Coach of the Year each season.
