Prescott, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse golf team opened its 2022-23 season with a second-place finish at the UW-River Falls Invitational Sunday afternoon at Clifton Highlands Golf Course. The Eagles finished with a two-day total of 692 (339-353) while UW-Stout captured the team title with a total of 663 (330-333).
UWL's B squad placed third overall with a total of 705 (354-351). A total of nine teams competed.
The Eagles had five golfers in the top-13.
Allison Balduzzi led UWL, placing third overall with a two-day total of 164 (84-80). The course was played at par 72 at 5,607 yards. The Eagles'
Grace Ellison was fourth at 170 (81-89) and
Molly Larsen tied for fifth at 171 (86-85).
Sophie Denure (87-90) and
Andrea Schleeper (85-92) tied for ninth with a two-day total of 177.
UWL's
Lauren Ambrookian tied for 14th at 178 (86-92) with
Claire Kelbel 19th at 182 (93-89).
Keila Kittelson (89-95),
Erin Rosencrantz (89-95) and
Jenna Wiebke (95-89) all tied for 22nd with a total of 184.
Abby DeMoe tied for 25th overall at 187 (97-90) with
Sydney Nelson tied for 29th at 193 (97-95).
A total of 51 players completed both rounds.
UWL returns to action Saturday, September 10 at the UW-Eau Claire Doug Georgianni Invitational at Wild Ridge Golf Course at 1 p.m.
