La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's tennis team is set to compete in the 2022 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Team Tournament Saturday, April 30. UWL, the third-seed for the tournament, faces second-seeded UW-Eau Claire at Lake Geneva Tennis at noon in one of the semifinals. The Blugolds earned a 6-3 victory over the Eagles on October 10 in Eau Claire.
Top-seeded UW-Whitewater hosts fourth-seeded UW-Stevens Point in the other semifinal starting at noon at Premier Tennis & Fitness. The semifinals will be played to decision. The championship and third-place matches will start at 3 p.m.
UWL enters the tournament ranked 14th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region released April 22. The Eagles'
Kimberly Steinert is ranked 19th in the ITA Central Region singles.
UW-Eau Claire is ranked 12th and UW-Whitewater seventh in the ITA Central Region.
The winner of the tournament receives the conference's automatic bid to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Tournament.
UWL enters the tournament at 15-4 overall and winners of 11 of its last 12 matches.
