La Crosse, Wis. – University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Head Tennis Coach
Bill Hehli has been named the 2025-26 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)/Dunlop Central Region Women's Coach of the Year, the ITA announced Wednesday.
Completing his 31st season as head coach, Hehli led the women's team to a 21-3 overall and 6-0 mark in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). The Eagles tied a school record for victories, matching the total from 2010-11 and 2011-12 when UWL finished 21-5.
UWL earned an automatic bid to the 2025-26 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Championships with a 4-3 victory over UW-Whitewater in the WIAC Tournament Championship on April 25.
The Eagles, ranked 28th in the ITA, made their third (2001, 2007, 2026) appearance in the national tournament this year, earning a 4-0 first round victory over UW-Superior on May 8 before a 4-0 loss at 19th-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) on May 9.
Bill Hehli completed his 31st season as head coach this year.
Finishing 6-0 in WIAC duals this year, UWL claimed its 16th league title in school history and first since 2006. The Eagles finished undefeated in conference duals for the third time in school history (2005, 2006, 2025).
Hehli was voted the 2025 WIAC Coach of the Year for the seventh time in his career (2000, 2005, 2012, 2017, 2020, 2024, 2025).
Inducted into the UWL Wall of Fame in 2017, Hehli is 477-148 (.763) as the women's head coach. The all-time leader in wins in WIAC history, he has led UWL to four (2003, 2005, 2006, 2025) conference titles.
UWL's men's squad is 388-237 (.621) under Hehli, who has compiled an overall record of 865-385 (.691).
The Eagles' men's team finished 14-6 overall and 2-1 in the WIAC this season.
