Decorah, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team competed at the Luther College (Iowa) Open Saturday. No team scores were recorded as nine wrestlers placed for the Eagles.
In the Silver Division, UWL's
Cole Hansen took the 157-pound title with a 5-0 record. He won by technical fall (19-1) over Aston Ricks of Luther (Iowa) in the opening round followed by a major decision (15-5) over Upper Iowa University's Ben Foelske. Hansen won by decision (7-3) over Tyler Janssen of UW-Platteville in the quarterfinals and by decision (10-8) over Blake Jagodzinske of Augsburg University (Minn.) in the semifinals. He captured the crown with a major decision (12-) over Sebastian Robles of the University of Iowa.

Four other wrestlers placed in the Silver Bracket of the tournament.
Marcus Orlandoni finished third at 197-pounds with a 4-1 record while
Dawson Dembroski was fourth at 165-pounds with a 3-2 mark. Orlandoni had one win by fall while Dembroski recorded two.
Logan Stafford was seventh at 197 and
Cole Whitehead eighth at 125 as both wrestlers went 3-2 and earned one win by fall.
Cael Weinzeig (125) finished 3-2 in the Silver Division while
Joey Johnson (197) and
Michael Douglas (285) each went 1-2. Johnson earned his win by fall.
UWL had four wrestlers place in the in the Elite Division on Saturday.
Nolan Paar was third at 174-pounds with a 3-1 record and one win by fall.
Jake Mandt (149) and
Kaleb O'Reilly (165) were fifth with 4-2 records. Mandt had two wins by fall.
Wyatt Simon placed sixth at 174-pounds with a 3-2 record.
In other Elite results,
Noah Leisgang (165),
Nick Fetzner (165) and
Isaac Gust (184) each went 1-2 while Zachary Weiler (133) finished 0-2.
