UWL Places Third at WIAC Championships; Wins Three Singles Titles

Kimberly Steinert, Tasha Bailey, Kaitlyn Kalinka
WIAC Tennis Championship (presented by Culver's)

Madison, Wis. -
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's tennis team placed third at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship (presented by Culver's) Sunday at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium. The Eagles finished with 15 team points while UW-Whitewater won the conference crown with 21.  UW-Eau Claire placed second with 18 points.

UW-Stevens Point finished fourth (12 points) followed by UW-Stout (9), UW-River Falls (6) and UW-Oshkosh (3).

UWL has finished in the top-three in each of the last nine seasons. The Eagles were third in 2012 and 2016 and placed second in 2013-15 and 2017-20.

The team title was determined by using a combination of the regular-season dual-meet standings and the WIAC championship results.  The finish in the regular-season standings accounts for one-third of the criteria, while the conference championship accounts for the remaining two-thirds. Logo

UW-Whitewater, UW-Eau Claire, UWL and UW-Stevens Point advance to the team tournament in the spring to determine the conference's automatic qualifier for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Championship.  UW-Whitewater will host the four-team event in April, 2022.

The 50th meeting of league teams also decided six singles champions and three sets of doubles winners.
