Boston, Mass. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team is in third-place after the first day of action at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Indoor Championships at The Reggie Lewis Center. The Eagles have 13.0 team points.
North Central College (Ill.) leads with 26.0 points with the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) second with 15.0. Carroll University (Wis.) and John Carroll University (Ohio) are tied for fourth with 10.0. A total of 32 teams have scored points. Â

UWL earned seven NCAA III All-America honors on Friday. Individually, the Eagles'
Andrew Jarrett placed third in the weight throw (67-4) while
Thomas Schultz was fifth in the 5,000-meter run (14:32.90) and
Samuel Sadowski sixth in the long jump (23-6 3/4).Â
It is Jarrett's third career All-America award in the weight throw after capturing the national title in 2018 and placing third in 2017. Schultz picked up his second career indoor All-America accolade in the 5,000-meter after placing sixth a year ago. Sadowski picked up his first career All-America award.Â

Samuel Hinz earned NCAA III All-America honors with a seventh-place finish (10:05.22). It is the second All-America award for Hinz in the distance medley relay after being a member of the seventh-place realy in 2016. Shoemaker-Allen, Holden and Hansford earned their first career recognition.
UWL's
Jacob Teunas placed ninth (23-0 1/2) in the long jump on Friday while
Christian Morzinski was 10th (61-9 1/2) in the weight throw. Â

After four events in the heptathlon, UWL's
Noah Meeteer is fifth-place (2,730 points) while
Ben Jones is in 18th (2,511). Meeteer and Jones competed in the 60-meter dash, long jump, shot put and high jump on Friday.  The heptathlon continues Saturday, March 9 with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000-meter run.Â

Shoemaker-Allen, Hinz, Hansford, Holden
In Friday's preliminary action on the track, Holden (6.85) and
Josh Koenecke (6.85) advanced to Saturday's 60-meter dash final while Koenecke (21.79) also advanced to the 200-meter dash final. Holden (22.04) failed to advance in the 200-meter dash.
UWL's 4x400-meter relay of
Charlie Handrick,
Joshua Desorcy,
Collin Meyer and
Jake Sullivan advanced to Saturday's final after running 3:17.09 in Friday's preliminaries.
The Eagles'
Joshua Schraeder failed to advance to Saturday's 3,000-meter run (8:29.63) while
Michael Austin Bates did not advance in the 60-meter hurdles (8.39).
