La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track and field team is in first place after the second day of action at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Outdoor Championships at UWL's Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. 

2025 NCAA III OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP BASICS

• Team Results - UWL is in fisrt place with 36 points. In second place is UW-Oshkosh with 24 points while Rowan University (NJ) sits in third with 21 points. Rounding out the top five is Wartburg College (Iowa) in fourth (13 points) and Lynchburg University (Va.) in fifth (11.5 points).
• Location - UWL's Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex, La Crosse, Wis. (Hosted by UW-La Crosse)
• UWL at NCAA III Championships - UWL has won an NCAA Division III record 17 Outdoor Championships. The Eagles are attempting to defend their 2024 and 2025 National Title. 
• Up Next: Day three of the Championships gets underway at 11:00 a.m Saturday morning. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

    Field Events

• Shot Put (Final) -  Earning his first NCAA III All-American honor was Jake Gardner with his sixth place finish. Gardner's top throw had a mark of 57-4 1/4. Ben Youngworth also competed in the shot put and finished 12th with a throw of 54-8 1/4. 
• High Jump (Final) - Mitchell Eldredge competed in the high jump on Friday and finished tied for 16th with a jump of 6-6. 
• Decathlon (Final) - With 6,744 points, Nolan Seaberg finished ninth in the decathlon while Trent Backeberg finished 12th with 6561.

    Track Events

• 4x100 Relay (Prelims) - The relay team of Ryder Smith, Evan Maurud, Landon Gallun and Luke Schroeder qualified for the finals on Saturday with a time of 40.34. 
• 110 Meter Hurdles (Prelims) - Two UWL Eagles finished in the top nine of the prelims of the 110-meter hurdles on Friday. Luke Schroeder (13.77) and Aaron Poelma (14.17) will each compete in the finals on Saturday. 
• 400-Meter Run (Prelims) - Collin Conzemius will look to add to his 2026 400-meter Indoor National Championship, as he qualified for the finals of the Outdoor Championships with a time of 47.00.
• 100-Meter Dash (Prelims) - Schroeder and Gallun both qualified for the finals of the 100-meter dash. Schroeder had a time of 10.44 while Gallun finished with a time of 10.47. 
• 800-Meter Run (Prelims) - Cael Schoemann will be looking for his fourth NCAA All-America honor and second national championship in the 800-meter run on Saturday as he qualified with a time of 1:50.13. 
• 3000 Meter Steeplechase (Finals) -  Joey Sullivan became just the second Eagle in school history to win back-to-back national championships in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Sullivan won the event with a NCAA III Championship meet record time of 8:39.22. Sullivan was joined by three other Eagles on the podium as Jayden Zywicki finished third in a time of 8:41.92 while Owen Clark was fourth (8:47.10) and Charles Vater was sixth (8:50.66).
