Platteville, Wis. - The Univesity of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field squad is in fourth-place after the first day of competition at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships at UW-Platteville. The Eagles have 39 team points while UW-Oshkosh leads the standings with 55 points.
UW-Whitewater is in second-place (44) followed by UW-Stout (40), UW-L (39), UW-Eau Claire (38), UW-River Falls (34), UW-Stevens Point (14) and UW-Platteville (9).
In Friday's action,
Katlin Genthe placed third on the vault (11-5 3/4) to lead the Eagles.
Christy Moses and
Maddison Norlin tied for 10th on the pole vault (10-0).
UW-L had four of the top-nine finishers in the long jump Friday, including
Kailey Charlton who placed fourth overall (17-9 1/2).
Sheila Opelt was fifth (17-5 1/2) while
Hannah Mueller finished sixth (17-4 3/4) and
Amy Jo Garinger ninth (16-10 3/4).
Morgan Phalen was sixth (101-7) and
Megan Nitka seventh (98-5) in the javelin throw.
On the track, the Eagles' 4x800-meter relay of
Megan Stats,
Alyssa Luker,
Macy Olson and
Kristin Lillie were third (9:28.69).
In the 10,000-meter run,
Kelsey Boyle placed fifth (39:34.45) and
Rachel Boldt was seventh (39:47.13). The Eagles'
Rachel Schroeder was sixth (11:34.17) and
Karyn Genrich eighth (11:57.96) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
