Esten Challenge Results
La Crosse, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team placed third at the Esten Challenge Friday night at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles finished with 121.0 team points while UW-Oshkosh captured the women's title with 199.0 points. A total of eight teams competed.
Winona State University, Minn. was second (186.0 points) followed by UW-La Crosse (121.0), Wartburg College, Iowa (108.0), UW-River Falls (58.5), UW-Eau Claire (46.0), UW-Stout (20.5) and Saint Mary's University, Minn. (4.0).
UW-L had three athletes win individual titles Friday night. On the track,
Rachel Schroeder captured the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:39.41) while
Kelsey Boyle won the 10,000-meter run (39:03.75). The Eagles'
Megan Marfilius won the high jump (5-2 ¼).
Other top finishers on the track included
Caitlin Wippermann second (25.48) in the 200-meter dash while
Jenna Halvorson was third (1:00.34) and
Rebecca Scheuermann fourth (1:00.67) in the 400-meter dash.
The Eagles'
Maggie May was third (15.76) and
Kali Kramolis fifth (16.03) in the 100-meter hurdles.
Karyn Genrich finished fourth (12:13.49) in the steeplechase and
Molly Blunck fifth (20:39.39) in the 5,000-meter run.
The Eagles'
Rachel Boldt was third (39:19.17) in the 10,000-meter run.
UW-L's 4x100-meter relay of
Kailey Charlton, Wippermann, May and
Laurel Beck placed third (54.73).
In the field events,
Kaitlin Genthe was third (11-1 ¾) in the pole vault while
Amy Jo Garinger was third in the high jump (5-2 ¼).
Sheila Opelt finished fifth (16-8) in the long jump.
UW-L returns to action Friday, April 22 at the Winona (Minn.) State Warrior Open.
