Five Athletes Earn All-America Honors

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team finished tied for 34th at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Indoor Championships in the Capital Center Fieldhouse Saturday night. The Eagles finished with 6.0 points while UW-Oshkosh won the women's title with 46.5. Wartburg College (Iowa) was second with 44.0 and Massachusetts Institute of Technology was third with 30.5

Methodist University (Tenn.) placed fourth (26.0) followed by Illinois College in fifth (24.0). Illinois Wesleyan was sixth (21.0) followed by Williams College, Mass. (20.0), Calvin College, Mich. (18.0), The College of New Jersey (17.0) and Monmouth College, Ill. (16.0). A total of 57 teams scored points.

UW-L had five athletes earn All-America honors Saturday, including Kailey Charlton who placed sixth in the 55-meter dash (7.20). 

The Eagles' 4x400-meter relay of Rebecca Scheuermann, Jenna Halvorson, Caitlin Wippermann and Laurel Beck each earned NCAA III All-America honors with a sixth-place finish (3:54.97).

Nicole Flackey competed in the shot put Saturday, finishing 14th overall (41-2 1/4). 

UW-L opens its spring season April 1 at the Wartburg College (Iowa) Heptathlon at 3 p.m.
