Wartburg College Select Results
Waverly, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field squad finished second at the Wartburg College Select Meet Saturday in Hoover Fieldhouse. The Eagles recorded 161.5 team points while host Wartburg won the meet with 226. The University of St. Thomas, Minn. placed third (89.5) followed by UW-Platteville (84), Central College, Iowa (66) and the University of Northern Iowa (10).
The Eagles'
Rachel Schroeder took the 5,000-meter run (18:40.09) Saturday while
Kayla Ashland won the high jump (5-3 1/4).
Other top finishes on the track included
Kailey Charlton second (7.27) and
Caitlin Wippermann fifth (7.50) in the 55-meter dash and
Lauren Seidl third in the 200-meter dash (27.19). Charlton provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships with her time in the 55-meter dash.
UW-L's 4x400-meter relay of
Rebecca Scheuermann,
Jenna Halvorson, Wippermann and
Laurel Beck finished second (3:56.00) and provisionally qualified for the national championships. The Eagles' 4x200-meter relay of
Megan Thiel, Ashland,
Hannah Mueller and Seidl were third (1:47.90).
Kesley Boyle placed second (19:15.31) and
Amy Pawelko fourth (20:29.24) in the 5,000-meter run while
Rachel Boldt was third (10:45.88) in the 3,000-meter run.
Megan Stats finished fourth in the 800-meter run (2:22.73) while
Maggie May was third in the 55-meter hurdles (8.75). UW-L's
Abby Gustafson placed fourth (5:26.21) and
Karyn Genrich fifth (5:32.65) in the mile run.
In the field events, UW-L's
Megan Marfilius finished second (5-3 1/4) and
Leeanne Nowicki third (5-1 1/4) in the high jump while May was second (36-2 1/4) and Mueller fifth (35-2) in the triple jump.
In the pentathlon Friday, Nowicki placed second (2,985 points) while
Jena Weigel was fourth (2,568).
Jessica Ramel finished second in the weight throw (45-4 1/2) and fifth in the shot put (38-9) Saturday.
UW-L returns to action Friday, February 11 at St. Mary's University (Minn.) Cardinal Open.
