Menomonie, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team is in third-place after the first day of competition at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Championships in Johnson Fieldhouse. The pentathlon was competed Friday with the Eagles'
Leeanne Nowicki placing fourth and
Sheila Opelt fifth.
UW-L totaled nine team points while UW-Eau Claire leads after the first day with 13 points. UW-Whitewater is second (10) followed by UW-L (9), UW-Stout (6) and UW-Oshkosh (1).
Nowicki was fourth in the pentathlon with 3,104 points while Opelt finished fifth with 2,909. JoLyn Owen of UW-Whitewater took the conference title with 3,353 points.
Nowicki met the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying standards with her 3,104 points.
