Warren Bowlus Open
Menomonie, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's indoor track & field team competed at the Warren Bowlus Open Saturday at UW-Stout in the Sports & Fitness Center. No team scores were recorded, but the Eagles had nine individual winners Saturday.
On the track,
Kailey Charlton took the 55-meter dash (7.25),
Caitlin Wipperman the 200-meter dash (26.11),
Kristin Lillie the 800-meter run (2:23.28),
Megan Stats the mile run (5:19.32),
Rachel Boldt the 5,000-meter run (18:53.79) and
Leeanne Nowicki the 55-meter hurdles (8.83).
UW-L also won the 4x200 (1:44.84) and 4x400 (4:16.15) meter relays.
Charlton also won a field event, taking the long jump (16-8 1/2).
The Eagles'
Kayla Ashland won the high jump (5-5 1/4) and
Maggie May the triple jump (34-9).
Other top finishes on the track included Wipperman placing second in the 55-meter dash (7.48) while
Rebecca Scheuermann finished second (1:00.43) and
Laurel Beck third (1:00.53) in the 400-meter run.
Abby Gustafson was second (2:25.52) and
Kailey Lewis third (2:26.11) in the 800-meter run.
UW-L's
Ellen Kumm was second in the 5,000-meter run (19:08.66). In the 55-meter hurdles, May was second (8.93) and
Jamie Montgomery third (9.56).
In the field events,
Megan Marfilius finished second (5-3 1/4) and
Meghan Thomas third (5-3 1/4) in the high jump while
Stephanie Peters placed third in the pole vault (10-8).
Nowicki was second (16-0 1/4) and
Liz Amici third (15-5 1/2) in the long jump while
Hannah Mueller finished third in the triple jump (33-3) and
Jessica Ramel was third in the weight throw (46-6 1/4).
UW-L returns to action Friday, February 4 at the Wartburg College (Iowa) Pentathlon starting at 11 a.m.
