Women's Track & Field Team Competes at St. Thomas

Kailey Charlton had three top-three finishes Friday night.
Univ. of St. Thomas (Minn.) Invitational Results

Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's indoor track & field team opened its 2011 regular season at the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) Invitational Friday night. No team scores were kept, but the Eagles had six individuals win events. 

UW-L's Nicole Flackey swept the shot put (14.03 meters) and weight throw (15.02 meters) competition. Also in the field events, Megan Marfilius won the high jump (1.64 meters) and Stephanie Peters the pole vault (3.10 meters).

On the track, Kailey Charlton captured the 55-meter dash (7.28), Caitlin Wippermann the 200-meter dash (26.13) and Abby Gustafson the mile run (5:32.91). Charlton was also third in the 200-meter dash (26.67) and placed second in the long jump (5.13 meters) while Wippermann was second in the 55-meter dash (7.45). 

UW-L also won the 4x400-meter relay (4:02.17).

Other top finishes in the field events for the Eagles included Jessica Ramel placing second in the shot put (11.62 meters) and third in the weight throw (14.05 meters). Maggie May was fourth in the triple jump (10.28 meters) and Tia Anderson fourth in the pole vault (2.80 meters).

On the track, Rebecca Scheuermann was second in the 400-meter dash (1:00.28) while Courtney Rucker placed second (3:18.17) and Karyn Genrich third (3:19.00) in the 1,000-meter run. UW-L's Rachel Boldt finished second (10:50.45) and Rachel Schroeder third (10:53.94) in the 3,000-meter run.

Leeanne Nowicki had a pair of top-four finishes Friday, tying for third in the high jump (1.54 meters) and placing fourth in the 55-meter hurdles (9.03). 

UW-L's Laurel Beck was third in the 55-meter dash (7.51) while Kristin Lilly was third (1:42.92) and Kailey Lewis fourth (1:44.45) in the 600-meter run.  Emma Crawford placed fourth in the mile run (5:46.83) and Jenna Halvorson was fourth in the 200-meter dash (26.75). 

UW-L returns to action Saturday, January 29 at the UW-Stout Invitational starting at 11 a.m .
