La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse lacrosse team fell, 15-4, to nationally-ranked Colorado College Friday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
The Eagles drop to 7-3 overall and 1-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Tigers improve to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in the WIAC.
Megan Maloney had six shots Friday.
Colorado College, ranked 25th in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), never trailed in the game, scoring the first 10 goals.
Elsa Green got the scoring started at 12:22 in the first quarter before Sofia Niklaus scored a man-up goal with a Meilani Molina assists with 10:07 remaining to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead. Molina and Sofia Mancino scored to make it 4-0 and Charlotte Iler had a pair of goals in the first quarter to extend the lead to 6-0. Ella Roe and Maddie Jenks recorded assists.
Beatrix Nace made it 7-0 with 13:47 left in the second quarter off Roe's second assist of the game. Grace Bean, Jenks and Oliv Janerico scored to give Colorado College a 10-0 lead.
Ava Schiltz scored for UWL with 5:51 remaining in the second quarter to make it 10-1 at halftime.
Jenks and Iler gave Colorado College a 12-1 advantage when
Megan Maloney and Schiltz scored to cut the lead to 12-3.
Emily Wrobbel assisted on the Schiltz' goal.
Greene scored twice for the Tigers in the fourth quarter to give Colorado College a 14-3 lead.
Evie Brilz' goal off a Schiltz assist with 3:27 remaining made it 14-4. Iler finished the scoring with 1:25 left.
UWL finished with 17 shots in the game, including seven on goal. Schiltz had two goals and one assist for the Eagles. She tied for the team lead with Maloney with six shots. Brilz, Wrobbel and
Stefania Rossi had a team-high four ground balls.
Angie Olla had two draw controls.
Stefania Rossi recorded seven saves Friday afternoon.
Rossi took the loss, finishing with seven saves.
Colorado College totaled 28 shots with 15 on goal. Iler led the Tigers with four goals and eight shots while Greene scored three times and Jenks twice. Jenks and Roe each had two assists. Roe and Alyssa Kawala tied for team lead with three ground balls while four players each had two draw controls.
Cassidy Schnaufer earned the victory, playing the first half while recording three saves. Natalie Bernstein played the second half, registering four saves.
UWL returns to action Wednesday, April 8 hosting UW-Stevens Point at 6 p.m.
