Eau Claire, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's tennis team opened Wisconsin intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play with a 4-3 win at UW-Eau Claire Saturday afternoon at the John and Fay Menard Tennis Center.

The Eagles improve to 9-3 overall while the Blugolds drop to 4-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
UWL earned the team point in doubles, winning two of three matches.

The teams split the six singles matches. Meixl won at No. 2 singles (6-1, 6-4) for UWL over Hughes while
Kyle Hehli earned the victory at No. 3 (5-7, 6-0, 6-3) over Murillo.
Brady Horstmann defeated Emilio Monge at No. 6 singles (6-4, 6-1).
UW-Eau Claire's Rincon defeated Schneider at No. 1 singles (7-5, 6-2) with Ripeckyj beating Contardi at No. 4 (6-3, 6-3) and Leeser over
Luke Hinchcliffe at No. 5 (7-6, 6-4).
UWL returns to action Monday, March 16 opening its spring break trip in Orlando, Florida. The Eagles face the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas) at 7 a.m. (Central).
