La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's tennis team opened its 2026-27 season with a 7-0 victory over Carroll University (Wis.) Sunday afternoon in the Eagles' home opener at Green Island Tennis Park.

The Pioneers were also playing in their season opener.
 

HOME SUCCESS
* UWL is now 10-3 in its last 13 home matches.
 
DOUBLES PLAY
* UWL earned the team point after winning two of the three doubles matches.
* Kyle Hehli/Aiden Meixl defeated Oback Carl Vilhelm/Ulrik Gellein at No. 1 (6-3).
* Gianni Frausto/Max Daigle beat Carson Leighton/Gates Lincoln at No. 3 (6-4). 
* Carroll's Sandelin Carl Algot/Nate Christensen defeated UWL's Alex Aranda/Tyler Schneider at No. 2 (7-5).

SINGLES PLAY
* UWL swept the six singles matches, including four in straight sets and two in three sets.
* Schneider defeated Algot at No. 1 (2-6, 7-5, 1-0).
* Meixl beat Gellein at No. 2 (6-2, 6-1).
* Hehli defeated Vilhelm at No. 3 (4-6, 6-3, 1-0).
* Aranda beat Christensen at No. 4 (6-3, 6-3).
* Daigle defeated Lincoln at No. 5 (6-1, 6-0).
* Beck Sissel beat Brayden Richardson at No. 6 (6-3, 6-1).
 
UP NEXT
* UWL returns to action at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional on Friday, October 2 in St. Peter, Minnesota.
