La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse lacrosse team opened its 2026 home schedule with a 23-6 win over Illinois Wesleyan University Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
The Eagles improve to 3-0 on the season while the Titans drop to 3-3.
UWL never trailed in the game, racing out to a 4-0 lead with
Evie Brilz scoring first at 12:23.

Megan Maloney followed with a goal with 10:53 remaining and Schiltz scored her second goal of the game with 10:17 left on an
Emily Wrobbel assist.

Illinois Wesleyan cut the lead to 4-1 on a Sadie Newton goal,
Tori Katzenmeyer scored with 4:50 left in the first quarter to extend UWL's lead to 5-1. Sarah Riepe's man-up goal with 2:43 remaining made it 5-2. The Eagles added a goal from Wrobbel and two from Maloney in the first quarter to take an 8-2 lead.
UWL outscored Illinois Wesleyan, 8-1, in the second quarter to take a 16-3 halftime advantage. Schiltz and Brilz each had two goals with Maloney,
Anna Millard,
Katie Klicker and
Jadyn Constine recording one.
The Titans scored the first two goals of the second half to cut the lead to 16-5. The Eagles'
Maggie Sadowski's goal with 4:37 left in the third quarter gave UWL a 17-5 lead. Klicker's goal with 1:39 remaining made it 18-5 before Illinois Wesleyan cut it to 18-6.
UWL scored all five of the game's goals in the fourth quarter with Sadowski notching two with
Adison Brown,
Lucy Karcher and
Jordyn Larue scoring one.
UWL finished with 42 shots, including 36 on goal. Maloney and Schiltz each scored four goals with Brilz and Sadowski each finishing with three. Klicker scored twice. Twelve different players scored and 13 recorded a point for the Eagles. Maloney had a team-high seven shots, two assists and 11 draw controls. Brilz,

Anna Jenson each had four ground balls.
Lucretia Morgan earned the win, recording four saves.
Ava Schiltz tallied four goals and one assist in Saturday's win.
UWL's 23 goals is tied for fourth in single-game school history. The Eagles have a school record 25 goals in two contests versus Augsburg University (Minn.), coming on April 15, 2022 and March 31, 2023.
Illinois Wesleyan totaled 16 shots with 10 on goal. Riepe and Sophie Shore each had two goals for the Titans. Shore recorded four ground balls. Marli Brown took the loss, playing the first half while registering seven saves. Allison Vervynck played the second half in goal, finishing with six saves.
UWL returns to action Wednesday, March 11 hosting Edgewood University (Wis.) at 6 p.m.
