La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse lacrosse team extended its season opening winning streak to four with a 17-4 victory over Edgewood University (Wis.) Wednesday night at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
The 4-0 start equals the best start in school history which came in 2024. The Eagles are in their seventh season as a varsity program.Â

UWL never trailed in the game with
Ava Schiltz getting the first two goals of the game. She scored an unassisted goal at 14:22 and added her second with 12:16 left in the first quarter off
Tori Katzenmeyer's assist.
The Eagles of Edgewood (Wis.) cut the lead to 2-1 with Christina Eloe scoring a man-up goal with 9:53 remaining in the opening quarter, but UWL scored the final five goals of the quarter to take a 7-1 lead. Katzenmeyer scored twice in the 5-0 run while
Evie Brilz,
Anna Millard and
Megan Maloney each notched one goal.
UWL led, 13-1, at halftime after scoring all six of the game's second quarter goals. Maloney's second goal of the game came with 14:02 left in the second quarter on
Angie Olla's assist. Maloney and Brilz scored twice in the quarter with
Adison Brown and Katzenmeyer also scoring.

Brilz extended the advantage to 14-1 with her fourth goal of the game with 10:41 left in the third quarter. Maloney recorded the assist. Eloe scored the next two goals for Edgewood (Wis.) to cut the lead to 14-3, but Olla's goal with 1:38 remaining in the third quarter gave UWL a 15-3 lead.
Kerry Costello scored for Edgewood (Wis.) in the fourth quarter with Brown and
Katie Klicker scoring for UWL. Olla recorded an assist on Klicker's goal.
UWL finished with 31 shots, including 24 on goal. Brilz led five players with multiple goals, finishing with four in the game. Maloney and Katzenmeyer each had three goals and one assist while Schiltz and Brown scored twice. Olla had a team-high two assists.
Emily Wrobbel led the Eagles with six ground balls with
Anna Jenson recording five. Olla had seven draw controls and Maloney five. Wrobbel and Katzenmeyer each had three caused turnovers.Â
Megan Maloney had three goals and one assist.
Lucretia Morgan earned the win, recording two saves.
Edgewood (Wis.) totaled seven shots with six on goal. Eloe finished with three goals on four shots with three ground balls and two draw controls. Costello had one goal and one assist. Alivia Jacobo and Kailey Smith recorded three ground balls.
Holly Wallis suffered the loss, registering seven saves and four ground balls.Â
UWL returns to action Saturday, March 14 hosting Carroll University (Wis.) at 1 p.m.
