Madison, Wis. - The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced its award winners following the completion of the 2026 women's indoor track and field championships.
The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse earned the WIAC Coaching Staff of the Year Award while senior
Maya Evans of Cedarburg (H.S.) was voted the WIAC Field Performer of the Meet.
The WIAC Coach of the Year award was re-named the Coaching Staff of the Year starting in 2019-20.
UWL earned the WIAC Indoor Coaching Staff of the Year Award for the seventh straight season under head coach
Nickolas Davis. The Eagles won their sixth straight WIAC title and league record 32nd in school history on February 27-28 with 328.0 team points. It is UWL's 13th championship in the last 14 years.
The 328.0 points are the most in conference history at the indoor championships, breaking UWL's previous record of 324.0 in 2023. The Eagles scored at least 17 points in 11 of this year's 17 events, including at least 20 points in nine events (60-meter dash; 200-meter dash; 400-meter dash; 5,000-meter run; 60-meter hurdles; pole vault; long jump; triple jump and pentathlon. The Eagles won eight individual and one relay title.
Davis is in his ninth year as UWL's head coach, leading the Eagles to seven (2018, 2020, 2022-26) conference indoor titles. UWL has also won seven WIAC Outdoor Championships (2018-19, 2021-25) under Davis.
The Eagles finished third at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor and Outdoor Championships, earning 33 All-America accolades.

Evans was named the WIAC Indoor Field Performer of the Meet after winning the triple jump (39-10 ½) and placing second in the long jump (18-8 ½) at the conference championships.
She is seventh UWL student-athlete to earn the WIAC Field Performer of the Meet, joining

Caitlin Schetter (2008, 2009),
Leeanne Nowicki (2010),
Amanda Wiebke (2018),
Skye Digman (2020, 2023) and
Hannah Zenkovich (2022).
Evans has qualified in the long and triple jump for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships scheduled for Friday-Saturday, March 13-14 in Birmingham, Alabama. She is seeded second in the long jump. Evans earned 2025 NCAA Division III Second Team All-America accolades with a 12th-place finish in the long jump.
