Platteville, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's track & field team captured the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship (presented by Culver's) Saturday afternoon. It is the Eagles league record 49
th conference title in program history and 2
3rd in 24 years.
THE BASICS
- Team Results: UWL won with 206 points while UW-Oshkosh was second with 163.5 points.In third place was UW-Eau Claire with 68.5 points followed by UW-Whitewater in fourth with 57 points, UW- Stout in fifth with 50 points, UW-Stevens Point sixth (46 points), UW-Platteville seventh (44 points) and UW-River Falls eighth (27 points).

- Up next: Prior to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Indoor Championship March 13-14, UWL will have individuals compete at the Wartburg College (Iowa) Final Qualifier on March 6 and 7 as well as the UW-La Crosse Qualifier on March 7th.

FIELD EVENTS
- Triple Jump: Mikaiah Hopf made the podium for the Eagles as he finished eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 45-1 1/4.
- High Jump: With a jump of 6-7 1/4, Mitchell Eldredge finished third in the high jump.
- Weight Throw: The Eagles finished with two of the top four finishers in the weight throw led by Logan Powers who finished second with a throw of 64-9. Teammate Anthony Staryszak finished fourth overall with a mark of 61-9.
- Heptathalon- In the heptathalon, three Eagles would finish in the top eight led by Nolan Seaberg in third place with 4992 points. Next for the Eagles was Bryant Yanke in fourth with 4972 while Trent Backeberg was eighth with 4761 points.

TRACK EVENTS
- 60-meter hurdles – Luke Schroeder won his third WIAC Indoor Championship in four years in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 6.78. His time was just shy of the NCAA III record which he set yesterday in the prelims.
- 60-meter dash – Schroeder found his way back to the podium as he was one of three Eagles to finish in the top eight in the 60-meter dash. Schroeder finished third with a time of 6.78 while Landon Gallun was sixth (6.85) and Ryder Smith eighth (6.90).
- 800-meter – Cael Schoemann would win his third consecutive WIAC Indoor Championship in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:51.59. Also joining Schoemann on the podium was Tyler Heiman in third place (1:53.79) and Parker Heintz in fourth (1:54.12).
- 3000-meter - Three Eagles would score points in the 3000-meter run with Owen Clark finishing second (8:28.56), Declan Gregg sixth (8:39.26) and Aiden Jakubic eighth (8:42.30).
- 4x400 Relay - The relay team of Finn Patenaude, Zachary Nyquist, Isaac Henkel and Tyler Heiman finished sixth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:22.62.
