La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's track & field team opened its 2026 indoor season winning the Pat Healy Classic Saturday afternoon in Hetzel Fieldhouse.
The Eagles scored 301.0 team points to capture the title. Winona State University (Minn.) was second with 77.0, Viterbo University (Wis.) third with 27.0, UW-Stout fourth with 25.0 and Saint Mary's University (Minn.) fifth with 1.0.
Regan Scott won the long jump and 60-meter hurdles Saturday.
UWL won 12 events on Saturday, including seven on the track.
Regan Scott won the 60-meter hurdles (8.83) while Julia Yang took the 60-meter dash (7.75). The Eagles'
Anika Reiland won the 200-meter dash (25.27) and
Anna Plautz the 400-meter dash (56.83).
Rebecca Belaney won the 800-meter run (2:24.04) while
Molly Novotny took the 3,000-meter run (9:59.80).
The 4x400-meter relay of
Andie Otto,
Sarah Grubbs,
Alli Thomas and
Zoe Lain won the title (3:52.99).
UWL won five field event crowns, including
Madilyn Vander Sanden with a meet record (46-10) in the shot put. She broke the record of 46-4 1/4 set by UWL's Skye Digman in 2023.
Ella Puls captured the weight throw (57-9 ¾) on Saturday. Scott took the long jump (18-10 ¾),
Madison McCullum the high jump (5-4 ¼), and
Emily Blaskowski the triple jump (38-7 ½).
Other top-six individual finishes on the track included
Olivia Navin second (8.98) in the 60-meter hurdles while McKenna Sedlack was second (7.60),
Makenna Zak third (7.70), Reiland fourth (7.79),
Taylor Molling fifth (7.79) and
Stella Arn sixth (7.87) in the 60-meter dash. Zak was also second (25.39), Yang third (25.79),
Marley McIntyre fourth (25.85) and Arn fifth (25.89) in the 200-meter dash.
Lain finished second (57.51), Otto third (57.85) and
Macy Reybrock sixth (58.67) in the 400-meter dash.
Makenna Zak placed second in the
200-meter dash and third in the
60-meter dash.
Brooklyn Luebke was second (10:04.23).
Mallory Reiser third (10:10.72),
Becca Immer fourth (10:11.33),
Julia Zalewski fifth (10:11.71) and
Madison Twarling sixth (10:12.01) in the 3,000-meter run.
Nora Jillson finished fifth (5:10.84) and
Natasha Tiry sixth (5:11.32) in the mile run.
Other top-six finishers in the field events included
Izzy Bender second (5-4 ¼),
Ainsley Hansen third (5-2 ¼),
Erin Gluch fourth (5-2 ¼) and Oliva Heyroth sixth (4-10 ¼) in the high jump.
Araceli De Leo Lopez finished second (12-10),
Nora Waddell third (12-6) and
Madison Habberstad fifth (12-2) in the pole vault.
UWL's
Maya Evans placed second (18-8 ¾) and
Jenna Miller fourth (18-5 ¼) in the long jump. Evans was also third (38-0) in the triple jump with
Jaden Hackel fourth (37-4 ½) and
Ashley Davies sixth (37-0 ¼).
Chloe Kessenich finished second (42-4 ¾), Jaydn Roden third (40-10 ¼) and
Lydia Delene sixth (38-0) in the shot put while Roden was second (51-8 ½),
Addy Moseler third (51-2 ¼), Delene fourth (49-5 ½) and Kessenich fifth (48-2 ½) in the weight throw.
Healy, a member of the UWL Wall of Fame, Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Hall of Fame and the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Hall of Fame, served as the Eagles' women's track & field coach for 25 seasons from 1992-2006. He led UWL to 22 team trophies (top-four finishes) at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Indoor and Outdoor Championships in his career, including sweeping the 2015 national titles.
The Eagles finished in the top-10 in 41 of a possible 50 national championship under Healy. He was selected the USTFCCCA National Indoor Coach of the Year four times (1997, 2000, 2001, 2015) and Outdoor Coach of the Year twice (1998, 2015).
Maya Evans was second in the long jump and third in the triple jump.
UWL won 16 WIAC indoor titles under Healy and 18 outdoor crowns. He was named the WIAC Indoor Coach of the Year 13 times and Outdoor Coach of the Year on 11 occasions.
Healy served as UWL's head women's cross country coach from 1991-2001, guiding the Eagles to 13 top-10 finishes at the NCAA III Championships. UWL captured four WIAC cross country titles under Healy as he was named the WIAC Coach of the Year each season.
