La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team improved to 7-0 on the season with three dual victories Saturday, including a pair of shutouts, in the UWL Duals in Mitchell Hall.
The Eagles, ranked fifth in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Top 25 Poll, earned wins over Augustana College, Ill. (46-0), Central College, Iowa (24-17) and UW-Oshkosh (52-0).
Central (Iowa) is tied for 24th in the NWCA rankings.Â

With the victory over UW-Oshkosh, UWL improved to 2-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). The Eagles are now to 90-9 (.909) all-time in WIAC duals under head coach
Dave Malecek. UWL extended its league winning streak to 19 duals.
Malecek earned his 250th career dual win at UWL with the Eagles' victory over Central (Iowa) on Saturday. He is 251-58-1 (.811) in his career.
The 251 wins ranks third in WIAC history behind Tim Fader (344) and Willie Myers (301).Â
UWL earned nine wins by major decision, technical fall or fall in its victory over Augustana (Ill.).

UWL now leads the all-time series, 7-0, with Augustana (Ill.).
Quintin Wolbert opened the dual versus Central (Ill.) with a technical fall at 125-pounds to give UWL a 5-0 lead. The Dutch won the next four matches to take a 14-5 lead.
UWL responded with four straight victories. Gerber earned a technical fall at 165-pounds to cut the lead to 14-10. Leisgang followed with a fall at 174 to give the Eagles a 16-14 advantage and Flege's technical fall at 184 extended the lead to 21-14. Dormanen completed the four match winning streak for UWL with a decision at 197-pounds to make it 24-14. Central (Iowa) won the final match at 285-pounds.
The Eagles led the Dutch, 17-2, in the all-time series.
The Eagles earned their second shutout of the duals with its victory over UW-Oshkosh.
Cole Gentsch (125) opened the dual with a win by fall.
