Manheim, Pa. - Ten members of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team earned National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III Scholar Awards for the 2025-26 season.

Oshkosh (West) earned the academic honor.
Leisgang, an education major, went 19-2 this season at 174-pounds. He earned National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III All-America honors with a sixth-place finish. Leisgang won the NCAA Division III Region VIII Regional title and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) crown. He was named the WIAC Scholar-Athlete.
Also an education major, Dormanen finished 21-6 at 197-pounds. He qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships with a second-place regional finish. Dormanen went 1-2 at this year's national tournament and won the WIAC title.
Majoring in management, Schutte finished 19-10 this year at 141-pounds. AlObaidi went 20-4 at 184-pounds and is a finance major. Gerber, an exercise sports science major, won the NCAA Division III title at 165-pounds as he went 34-3 overall. He was second at the NCAA III Regional and captured the WIAC title.
A sport management major at UWL, Magolski was second at 133-pounds at the WIAC Championships and fourth at the NCAA Regional. He went 25-15 this year.
McIntyre went 2-2 at the NCAA Division III Championships at 141-pounds as he finished 27-10 overall. He placed second at the regional championships to qualify for the national tournament. McIntyre was third at the WIAC Championships.
Majoring in bio-chemistry, Beckett went 14-6 at 141-pounds. A finance major, Mihalopoulos earned NCAA Division III All-America accolades with a sixth-place finish at 285-pounds. He went 23-11 this year, finishing third at the NCAA III Regional and fourth at the WIAC Championships. Schneider finished 20-4 at 165-pounds. He is an exercise sport science major.
UWL's 10 honors are tied for ninth-most in NCAA Division III with Ohio Northern University, Wartburg College (Iowa) and Washington & Lee College (Va.). Augsburg University (Minn.) leads with 22 selections with the United States Coast Guard Academy second with 16 and Roanoke College (Va.) third with 12. Baldwin Wallace College (Ohio), New York University, Springfield College (Mass.), Stevens Institute of Technology (N.J.) and UW-Eau Claire earned 11 honors.
To earn the award, a wrestler must have placed in the top-eight at the regional championship or compete in at least 15 matches and record a winning percentage greater than 66% as well as compile an grade point average of 3.20 over the last two semesters or a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20.
It is the fourth career NWCA Scholar-Award for Leisgang while Dormanen and Schutte earned their third recognition.

Dave Malecek. The second-place finish equals its best finish in school history, also being second in 2001, 2006, 2008 and 2010.
