Platteville, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team opened Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) action with a 39-3 dual victory at UW-Platteville Wednesday night in Williams Fieldhouse.
The Eagles, ranked fifth in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Top-25 Poll, improve to 4-0 overall while the Pioneers drop to 0-2. UW-Platteville was also wrestling in its conference opener.

UWL now leads the all-time series with UW-Platteville, 41-20. The Eagles have won 19 straight duals over the Pioneers.
With the victory, UWL improves to 89-9 all-time in WIAC duals under head coach
Dave Malecek. The Eagles extended their league winning streak to 18 duals with Wednesday's victory. Entering this season, UWL had recorded seven undefeated (5-0) conference duals seasons in the last nine years with Malecek.
The Eagles won the first nine matches on Wednesday, including three decisions to start the dual.
Cole Gentsch won by decision (12-5) over Chris Karbash at 125-pounds followed by
Teague Holzer winning by decision (4-1) over Ethan Monson at 133.
Marcus McIntyre gave UWL a 9-0 lead with a decision (9-7) at 141-pounds over Garrett Marks.
Joe Penchi's technical fall (17-0, 4:54) over Trent DuMont at 149-pounds extended the lead to 14-0. At 157-pounds,
Kolt Knaack won by fall (1:37) over Dawson Klefstad to make it 20-0.
Ryland Schneider followed with a major decision (13-2) at 165-pounds over Blake Delsman. The Eagles'
Eddie Simes,
Tate Flege and
Tyler Dormanen won by technical fall to give UWL a 39-0 advantage. Simes defeated Dawson McConnell at 174-pounds (19-4, 4:28) while Tate earned the win over Cal Ries at 184-pounds (18-2, 7:00) and Dormanen over Kain Killmer at 197-pounds (19-2, 5:42).
UW-Platteville won the final match at 285-pounds by decision (9-3) over UWL's
Asher Sheldon.
UWL returns to action Saturday, December 6 hosting the UWL Duals in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles face Augustana College (Ill.) at 10 a.m.; Central College (Iowa) at 11:30 a.m. and UW-Oshkosh at 1 p.m.
